Project 365: life in a different perspective

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes,
Five hundred twenty-five thousand, moments so dear.
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life?
-Seasons of Love, from Rent

As the start of 2011, I decided to do a project called: Project 365. This project is a good way to measure a year in the life.

Project 365 made me excited because it is like a dare for me to be able to finish the whole project.  It is a test of commitment and constancy. I plan to take a picture of any event of each day. I thought it was just a simple project and there’s no big deal about it.

Even after only 12 days, I already have so many realizations.
I realized that each day and every single moment of it is truly a blessing. I used to think that my life is boring and routinary. But as I continue with this project, I began to see life in a different perspective. I realize that there are little things in my life that I take for granted. For example: stroll in the mall, eating out with friends or movie dates with my husband are just some things that I thought are just part of my boring life. Now that I am more conscious of all my activities, I realize that these little things make each day unique and special.

Now, as I start my day, I look forward to exciting things that will happen. I am sure that even during tough days, there will still be moments of happiness worth remembering.

Then at the end of each day, I can look back and thank God for all the blessings he continues to shower upon me.

As a final note, I am not saying that everyone should do a project like mine. It is just that this project paved the way for me to realize that we should make out of each day and be grateful for the blessings. Starting today, let us all be conscious of the good things that will happen… after all, today is a gift. That’s why it called “the present”…
