Eulogy to a great father, our hero -- my daddy -- Bayani A. Garin

My dad calls me Bubbles-ko. Sasabihin ni mom, bakit sino ba umaaangkin nyan? Yes, I am a daddy’s girl. Ay sorry, I am equally close to my mom and my dad pala… hehehe J Kidding aside,   true to his name, he is really my hero. He is always there for me. Since most of you know the stories of our lives because of my dad and how he brags about our accomplishments, allow me now to share bits and stories about my dad that makes me a very proud daughter. He is my driver. He would drive me to school, to work, and even to my graduation ball. He would also pick me up, exactly at the time I told him to or usually, earlier pa. I remember when I was still in Zilog, we were off at 4:45, but my dad will be at the parking lot at around 4:30. My mom would tease my dad, ano ba sinusundo mo… prep? He is my teacher. He taught me a lot of things and I excelled in school because of my great teachers at home. He is also my project partner. When I was still studying, cramming was my specialty. I would do the

To crave or not to crave: Crave Burger

Image
Gerard and I love burgers. We are always excited if there are new burger joints. Last Sunday, we went to Crave Burger, at BF Paranaque. They are still on dry run but of course, it did not stop us from trying their burgers as they claim 100% pure beef! J The menu is simple since aside from chicken wings and the usual accompaniments like onion rings and fries, they only serve burgers. You just have a choice whether you want your burger to have single or double patty. You can also choose from different add-ons such as american cheese, bleu cheese, maple bacon etc. But unlike Brother’s burger or Army Navy, they offer combo meals which comes with the burger, fries and drink (red iced tea or blue lemonade). Of course, we opted for the combo meal to make our meal complete. The burger patty is huge! It’s not that dry nor oily. The burger bun though was ordinary. It was just reheated in an oven toaster so it was served, soft and warm. They call their fries skinny, so I thought that thei

Birthday, birthday, what a happy day! :)

I used to have my birthday parties at home. I can still remember days before my birthday, we would go to Goldilocks to order the cake of my choice. I will then go shopping to find the perfect birthday dress for the party. On my birthday, everyone will be busy preparing for the party. Nanay nene will cook the spaghetti, mommy will prepare the fruit salad, lumpiang shanghai, chicken lollipop and all other food prepared in a typical children party. My mom would also prepare the fruit punch which is a staple in an 80's party. We also have parlor games such as pabitin, coke drinking contest, longest line, musical chairs etc. Therefore I always look forward to my birthday... Because I know it will be special. But of course, when we get older, especially during our teenage years, our perception on things and occasions changes. We find it baduy to have parties with games. We just treat our friends out or if we do have parties at home, it will be different. We sometimes have videoke, si

Tony Roma's: Best Ribs in Town! :)

Image
It's already a tradition for Gerard and I to go to Tony Roma's ATC during our birthdays... it is our special restaurant.. (our normal restaurant is Italiannis.. by the way) Anyway, for us, Tony Roma's has the best ribs in town! It is like Racks because the meat falls off the bone... but it's better because it is more leaner and more flavorful... mmmm....yummy! :) So of course, since we are just two, we decided to get the BBQ Chicken and Ribs Combo. It comes with a soup of your choice and 2 side dishes. Now allow me to be a restaurant critic as I try to evaluate each item, one by one... Disclaimer: I am not an expert on this, everything is just based on my personal opinion, I am not in anyway an endorser of the said restaurant. Food: 1) Bread -- this is also one of the reasons why we keep on coming back... it's was served warm, crunchy on the outside, so soft in the inside... went well with the herbed butter spread... 2) Soup -- I was presented with 2 choic
