Happy birthday to me! Though I don't like the fact that I am getting older and that I am no longer in my twenties... I am still happy to celebrate my birthday... here's why: 1) I was allowed to go on leave... I had a break from all the quarter end pressures...   2) Perfect weather... no Milenyo nor Ondoy that ruined my day 3) Thanks to FB, everyone became thoughtful and greeted me on my special day... 4) Had homemade lasagna for lunch... yummy!!! 5) Had freshly baked chocolate fudge brownies for dessert... yummy again! Thanks to my ever dependable friend, betty crocker... hehehe :) 6) Greeted by Jada with her super sweet smile and received a special kiss from Francine 7) Had sumptuous dinner at Toni Roma's... yummy again! 8) Finally, I was able to wear the pearl earrings and necklace given by my sister and brother-in-law 9) Attended mass to give thanks to God for 30 wonderful years 10) Received special phone call from my sister 11) My nanny came from Bata

Glee Season 2

Image
Glee Season 2 is now on!!! Okay, I must confess.. I have never watched a single episode of Glee Season 1. My friends actually gave me a copy of the first few episodes but I was not able to watch it. Or better yet, I did not find the time to even have a look on that show. Glee for me is just one of those musical shows which I am not a fan… But now that Glee is on its second season with a new character played by a Filipina… I watched the first episode last night. Though I am not actually a fan of Charice, I'm happy that she has overcome the barriers and achieved something for herself. She was able to conquer the international arena… which makes most of us, Filipinos proud of her. Anyway eventhough I am not a fan of Glee, I somewhat enjoyed the show last night. I love their rendition of empire state of mind, billionaire and telephone. I am looking forward to more Glee episodes and hopefully, next time, I can actually say that I’m an official fan. J

S&R shopping

Image
Snapshot of S&R last September 17, 2010 I am anti-social. I don’t like going to parties and to crowded places. But there are a few places that I love even if they are crowded… one of them is S&R, especially if they are on sale. Last Friday, my friend asked me if I want to go to S&R for their 5 day sale… automatically I agreed and became excited. I love S&R because of the wide variety of imported goods you can buy from them, and as they say, it is Philippine’s answer to Costco.   Great but reasonably priced stuff… makes me go gaga! Hehehe J There are a lot of people as expected but I can say it is tolerable. I guess you won’t mind the crowded place as long as you can buy cheap stuff! But we did not buy a lot because most of the items are wholesale, so even if the prices are discounted, I don’t think Gerard and I need boxes of milk, shampoo, soap etc. We just bought a couple of stuff such as chocolates, burritos, toilet cleaning agent, ice cream… (oh wait, that seems

Mike&Majo's Wedding 09.18.10

I love attending weddings. It is so nice to witness the profession of love of two people. They enter the church as two people with separate lives and will leave the church as one, starting their journey through married life. Last Saturday, we attended the wedding of one of the close friends of Gerard—Majo Joaquin. Their wedding was held at Tagaytay highlands so as expected, it was a lovely wedding. I enjoyed the homily of the priest because it was already like the profession of vows since he asked the couple if they are really in love with each other. The priest said that in a marriage, there will always be a third party that will rock the marriage. This third party should always be God. He should always be present to have a solid foundation. It was a refreshing idea and a good reminder for married couples like us to put God in the center of our relationship. Anyway, the wedding was also unique and cool in a lot of ways, here are the reasons why.... 1)     Attire: The attire specifie

The Skinny Me

Image
The skinny me I used to be skinny when I was a kid. I remember my mom warning me that I might be blown by the wind because I was too thin. My sister also teases me that it’s better to be fat and beautiful than to be thin and ugly… Now it seems that my weight is becoming directly proportional to my age… I am getting old and fat. The fat me -- note: this is just an edited picture. I am not yet that fat! So I have to think of ways on how to slim down or to shed off some pounds. First, I enrolled myself in a gym…   lifted some weights then became too lazy.. I ended up just attending the classes such as the “body jam” and “retro groove”. It was fun but became too expensive for me to maintain my gym membership. Of course, now that I am married, we have other priorities and a whole lot of bills to pay. Then I tried Wii Fit. It was cute and entertaining at first. I bought the balance board, mat etc. But since I am just doing the exercise by myself along with my virtual

Message of Hope

We are married now for 2 years and as I have mentioned in my last blog, we are hoping to have a baby soon… Baby Bubbles and Baby Gerard Last March 12, 2010, I got a pregnancy kit to check if I was positive. I was not expecting anything because I have checked several times and the result was always NEGATIVE... But this time... I saw 2 pink lines on the stick!!! It was around 5:30 AM and I literally cried when I saw that... Gerard thought something was wrong… and so I gave him the pee stick.. He just said... “so ano?” Of course, how can I expect him to know what the 2 lines mean.... I said… Positive! He asked why I was crying… I just said I am overjoyed…. We went to the doctor the next day but we were told to just come back after two weeks. At that time I was only 5 weeks pregnant and it’s too early to see the baby. Those two weeks were filled with joyful anticipation and excitement… I downloaded applications for my iphone for anything related to pregnancy. I even borro

Let go and let God

Below is a speech I made last year for Toastmasters... This is actually an ice breaker speech because the requirement is just to be able to introduce yourself and conquer the fear of speaking in front of a group.  Warning: Speech contains highly emotional language which may not be good for your heart... =============== God works in mysterious ways. He has prepared the best plan for you…. So let go and let God. My mom had mumps when she was three to four months pregnant with her youngest daughter. She was then told by the doctor that the baby in her womb may be infected by the virus if she was three months. But there could be a better chance of not being infected if she was already in her fourth month. Since my mother could not exactly determine if her baby was three or four months, my mother and father became very worried during the remaining months of her pregnancy. They stormed heaven with prayers for both mother and child. With their strong faith in God, they claimed that the baby w
