Giulia - our forever princess

Image
Giulia pronounced as jee-yo-liah... this is an italian name which means youthful, as I know she will be forever our princess as she is our first-born daughter. She is very precious and truly an answered prayer to us. We have been praying for so long to have a child and so happy after 3 years, we were able to have our precious Giulia. As she celebrates her 11th birthday, we have this special message for you: To our dear Giulia, Happy birthday! We are so blessed to have you as our daughter.... you know that we have been waiting for so long to have a baby and truly, you are a manifestation of God's perfect timing. As soon as we found out that my due date was Dec 31, we were already praying that you do not come out when people already are celebrating the end of the year and welcoming another year.  We did not know that when we were praying to have a child, God already gave us a clue as to when he will grant our wish. There is the picture of our Lady of Guadalupe at the top of our bed,

A Eulogy for Papa Melo - my father in-law

Image
A Eulogy I made for Papa Melo when he died las May 30, 2021.... A few days ago during a group chat with relatives- the grandchildren started to share their happy memories with Papa- All of them talked about Papa’s generosity as papa brings home chocolates, biscuits, books and toys when he goes out. Then when Toni Samson De Quintos , Ferdie Samson , Francis Gerard Samson and Mama Leonila Samson shared their best moments with Papa— their answer was simple— it was every time. Papa Melo lived a full and meaningful life. He had his share of “fun times” when he was young as he would go to casinos or go out for a drink perhaps because of his stressful work at Customs. But Mama can proudly say that In spite of Papa’s love for casinos and alcohol before, he remained faithful to Mama. Even when he’s very drunk, he would call Mama to pick him up because he knows Mama Lily is her home. He would also buy the latest mobile phone and surprise his kids back then with new phones when they wake up. Gi

On Being the Best Mom Part 2

Image
In September 2020 still at the height of the pandemic and most people are staying at home, I felt the "mom-guilt" on not being able to be the best mom. At that time, we still have a helper who prepares the food for my children. I am also at home but I spend most of my time in front of my laptop, similar to my set-up in the office.  But since at that time, it seems that there are no plans yet for kids to go back to online classes and I am still working from home, I decided to let go of our helper by December 2020. By January 2021, I am the only one in-charge in our house... I became a stay-at-home mom and a working mom at the same time. Thanks to You Tube, I learned to cook simple Filipino dishes such as Sinigang na Hipon, Nilagang Baka, Ginisang Sayote, Monggo and of course, Adobo. I am happy that my kids enjoyed all those Filipino dishes. But of course, still I am working from home, there are times that I don't have much time to prepare food so of course, there are days

19th Anniversary

Image
Oct 1, 2003 – This is the day that I have said ‘yes’ to Gerard… yes to becoming her girlfriend… even if he did not formally asked… hahaha! 😊 So when he heard me say ‘yes’ he actually got confused because he was not even asking… but of course, he was so elated to hearing me say yes to him. So now as we celebrate our 19 th anniversary as boyfriend-girlfriend… let me share 10 trivia questions and our answers: 1)      Where was your first meeting place? – Gerard said she already saw me the first time I attended the Christian Life Program for Singles For Christ and in fact he even said that he was the one who handed my ID… but of course I don’t remember…. But eventually I get to notice him in the events for Singles For Christ. 2)       Where did you have your first date – If ever we are asked about this… we already have an agreement to say that our first official date is in Italiannis in Greenbelt Makati. But of course, the truth is that we had our first date only in Popeye’s SM B

I am grateful

A wise man said “Forget about aging gracefully; focus instead on aging gratefully.” This is so true because as we age, we begin to appreciate all the blessings that God continues to bestow upon us. Some might have seen in my previous post that my birthday this year is something I did not plan nor expect. Our whole family is isolated/quarantined as we are all positive for Covid 19. But God is so giving that he sent messages and angels to make me feel special on my birthday. Blessings started to pour in even a day before my birthday and you can read it in my previous post. But of course since God is so generous, it did not end there.  As I was about to close this blog, I happened to browse one of my old blog entries dated Oct 22, 2022. Just a bit of history, my dad died on Oct 22, 2010. But a year after, god gave us our princess- Giulia. So in my blog post, 2 years after my dad passed- I wished for something…  I wished for a son for my sister and brother in law. I cannot remember why my

My Simple Wish on my birthday

Image
Flashback to years ago, during the time when Gerard was still courting me, he asked what I want for my birthday and I told him - I want the small, powder- blue Lacoste bag. I also told him the things that I will do on that day - from attending mass early morning- going to office the whole day etc…  I am sure he bought the bag - the only surprise will be the time on when he will give it. He did not know that I planned my whole get up - from clothes to shoes to match that bag. My birthday came- he attended mass with me, but the question is- did he give me the bag? No.  So I went to the office- they planned a little surprise and ask Gerard to come over. Of course, he then showed up with  flowers… such a sweet gesture I must say. But did he give me the bag? still no.  So imagine, I wore matching outfit and shoes but no bag to matched with. So when my day was about to end, I went home and changed to my sleeping clothes. Only then Gerard went to the house to give the gift- my powder blue  sm
