Papa John's Pizza - now open in BF Homes Paranaque

Gerard and I are really into trying out new burger joints, pizza parlors etc. So when we saw that Papa John’s Pizza recently opened a branch along President’s Avenue in BF Homes, we decided to head over this restaurant. After all, Gerard said that he heard good things about this place. Actually, this popular pizza joint was started by John “Papa John” Schnatter in Jefferson, Indiana.

Just like most other restaurants in BF, parking was very limited, which can make it quite challenging for diners. But since we have observed that the place is jam-packed during lunch, we opted to try it out on a Sunday night. Good thing, we were able to get a parking space right in front of the restaurant.

The atmosphere is vibrant as the restaurant has a very cheerful and bright interior. The dark colored, cushioned-leather seats and tables gives a sharp contrast to the maroon-colored walls. Instead of the usual paintings and photographs that you would see in most pizza joints, there are wooden pizza shovels that were painted with different designs on one side of the restaurant.

The menu at Papa John’s is very much what you would expect from any pizza joint. It has a respectable selection of classic and specialty pizzas which comes in various sizes.  They also serve a selection of pasta dishes, appetizers and salads. They also have a few rice dishes to satisfy the Filipino palate.

Gerard wanted to order the Baked Italian Meatballs (P140) because it looks so appetizing – Here’s the actual description in the menu: Succulent beef balls prepared with special herbs and spices. Covered and baked in our delicious Pizza sauce and cheese. A melt-in-your-mouth experience…

But then he came across of the Pasta Bolognaise with meatballs (P195). So we think that we will have the best of both worlds… pasta and meatballs… Unfortunately, the waiter said that they ran out of meatballs. Sad. L

Sorry, I almost forgot to take a picture...

So, he just ordered the normal Pasta Bolognaise (180). It has a choice of spaghetti or penne pasta. The serving is quite small… just perfect for one person with a relatively small appetite. Taste was okay.

As for me, since I was not that hungry, I just ordered Cream of Chicken and Corn soup (P49) and a Jr. Papa Chicken BBQ pizza (P150). Soup was also okay considering that it is only cheap… nothing fancy.

For the pizza, it was topped with tender grilled chicken and bacon bits. Since I ordered the Jr. Pizza, the size was cute and perfect for a cheap snack. The BBQ sauce was somewhat sweet and I like it… I think they are true to their slogan – better ingredients, better pizza.  The crust was bubbly and nicely browned.

I also like the idea that they serve the pizza with a garlic butter dip. I think the garlic butter dip is a smart move so you can dip the pizza crust after you've eaten the rest (I know most people tend to ignore that part).

Service was pretty quick and we had our pizza in minutes, thanks to the metal oven conveyor that they used in their kitchen. But of course, as most pizza joints, allot around 15 minutes waiting time for the pizza since they just prepare it upon receiving the order. This ensures the freshness of the crust and ingredients which makes for a delicious pizza!
In general, we became happy and satisfied with the food, service and the whole restaurant. It is a good place to hang out with friends and family.
Will we come back at Papa John’s? You bet we will! J
