Me, Myself and I

Image
Here are the write-ups about me as published in my school year books. St. Scholastica's College Highschool Batch '98 Berna or Bubbles or Bub is what people usually call her. Berna is really someone whom you want to spend the whole day with. She has lots of stories to tell complete with sound effects, facial expressions and movements so your day would positively turn bright whenever she is there beside you. She is also a person who would really laugh at even the silliest jokes (To think that she has this odd laughter for she can whistle or sometimes cray while laughing!) Moreover, she is a smart gal but definitely not a nerd. She reviews the lesson the night before the exam, but if you see her grade, it is as if she studied for the whole week! But she is not just a smart girl with the weird laugh, she is also indeed a true friend. She will give you true and honest opinions that make her very sincere. If she's your friend, then, there is certainly something to be proud o...

Our kitchen's new look...

Image
Gerard is the king of our kitchen. He thinks of ways on how to make our life simple and easy in the kitchen. Since the cupboards are high, I find it difficult to reach the things inside such as the canned goods and other grocery items… Thus, he thought of a pantry cabinet! Ta daaa! Most of our grocery items are already in the pantry cabinet... Now he has more working space... Also since our original spice rack is already full, he added another corner spice rack… Another Ta daa! close up view Here’s a complete view of our kitchen. I'll try to blog about the kitchen gadgets and tools next time... Till then!

The pimpled me

I definitely do not have the perfect skin. Actually when I was young… my face can be described like this in tagalog: pimple na tinubuan ng mukha… J I do not get appalled like most women do when they wake up and see a zit on their face. For me, it is just  another addition to my zit collection…. J So if I hear other girls screech at the sight of a single zit in their face when they look at themselves in the mirror… I would also screech and say, “Wow, I have grown myself a face…" J Though I can be considered lucky since my zits are not those huge pus filled pimples… they normally just look like dark bumps on my face. So naturally because of my skin condition, at the age of 10-11 years old, I already started my regular visits to the dermatologist. I dread those visits because instead of being beautiful after the acne treatment, I feel more ugly because of all the pricking and cleaning the doctor does to my face. I got used to the pain of the pricking and the burning...

I was never allowed by my mom to eat street foods because of her fear that I might get sick when I eat those kind of food. But I have this thinking eversince that the squid balls being sold right outside MMGC church is clean... perhaps it's just my way to convince myself that it's okay to buy squid balls... hehehe :) Anyway, to cut this long story...

Pan-fried Dory with Lemon Butter Sauce

Image
Here's another recipe of my lovey hubby Gerard. I’m so sorry but we don't have the exact measurements of the ingredients. What you need: Cream Dory fish or any white fish fillet Salt Pepper Magic Sarap Dried basil leaves Flour Lemon juice or calamansi juice Butter Olive Oil Fresh parsley for garnishing What to do:   Make sure your fish fillet is thawed (if using frozen) and the skin surface is dry. You can use a paper towel to dab the fish. Season fish with salt, pepper, magic sarap and dried basil. Note: we used freshly cracked sea salt* and pepper because we think that it gives more flavor. But I guess, normal salt and pepper will do. Magic sarap and dried basil will give an extra flavor and a hint of herb taste. Then brush the seasoned fish with flour. Make sure to put just enough flour. Brush off the excess. In a frying pan, melt the butter together with the olive oil in medium heat. Once brown, fry the fish fillet for 1-2 minutes each ...

Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken

Image
Last Sunday, my family decided to go to Megamall... and since we are from the South, this huge mall is really unfamiliar territory for us... Anyway, we decided to look for a restaurant which looks cheap but interesting... and fortunately, we came across Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken. “Home of the World Famous Portuguese Style grilled Chicken” "Piri-piri, peri-peri or peli-peli is the name used in Portuguese and a number of African languages to describe the African bird's-eye chilli, a member of the capsicum plant genus. This is a small and extremely spicy variety. The variations in spelling derive from the various pronunciations of the word in parts of Africa, although "piri-piri" is the correct spelling in Portuguese. " ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peri_peri ) So just looking at the definition, you can already assume that peri peri chicken would have an exotic taste. Hmmm… interesting right? Also as we get closer, we saw that the restaurant has a promo – Soup and B...
